The Camino de Santiago de Compostela is a network of pilgrimage routes across Europe leading to the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela in the northwestern corner of Spain, where tradition holds that the remains of the apostle St. James the Greater are held. Tom and Judy Hamilton, walked the Camino from the village of St. Jean Pied de Port in southern France to Santiago de Compostela (approximately 490 miles). Join us as we share our adventure hiking over the western Pyrenees, across the hot meseta, and wind-swept hills of Galicia, but we will pause occasionally to visit some religious and historic sites along the route. Finally, after 35 days of walking, meeting many interesting people and sleeping in pilgrim hostels, we will reach the magnificent Cathedral of Santiago to complete our pilgrimage.
After retiring from Phillips Academy Tom through-hiked the Appalachian Trail and the Vermont Long Trail. Judy then joined him on treks across England, Wales, Cornwall and northern Spain. As enthusiastic “birders” they have traveled extensively in South America.
